In a significant shift towards sustainable practices, a recent report reveals that a staggering 68% of organizations in India are leveraging technology to drive their sustainability efforts. This trend, driven by increasing customer demands for eco-friendly products and services, underscores a growing recognition of the importance of environmental responsibility in business operations.
The report, conducted by IT infrastructure services provider Kyndryl in collaboration with Microsoft, sheds light on the pivotal role of digital tools in driving sustainability initiatives. According to the findings, 56% of Indian organizations are harnessing digital tools to implement hybrid work strategies, while an impressive 55% are utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) and automation to enhance efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and foster sustainable operations.
“Visionary companies are harnessing technology to meet regulatory standards and pursue sustainability objectives effectively,” remarked Faith Taylor, Chief Sustainability and ESG Officer at Kyndryl. “They are leveraging technology to fulfill customer expectations, reduce expenses, and innovate, thereby unlocking the full potential of sustainability.”
The report further highlights the growing adoption of AI among Indian firms, with approximately 28% using AI to identify scope three risks through public sources. This indicates a shift towards a more comprehensive understanding of environmental impact beyond direct operations, signaling a need for increased awareness and action in this regard.
The survey, which encompassed 1,523 technology and sustainability business leaders across 16 countries in Asia, EMEA, and the US, underscores the global momentum towards integrating technology and sustainability to drive positive change.
