Herbalife India Teams Up with IIM Bangalore to Drive Sustainable Supply Chain Practices

In a strategic move to champion sustainability in the realm of supply chain management, Herbalife India, a global leader in health and wellness, has joined forces with the esteemed Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) to establish the Supply Chain Sustainability Lab. This collaborative endeavor, inaugurated in 2023, is dedicated to spearheading research and development initiatives aimed at advancing sustainable supply chain practices, dissemination, and advocacy.

The Supply Chain Sustainability Lab, a trailblazer in its domain, adopts a multifaceted approach to sustainability, encompassing knowledge creation, expert consulting, collaborative ecosystem building, and practical tool development. One of the lab’s primary objectives is to empower businesses by equipping them with innovative tools tailored to address sustainability challenges effectively.

Among the groundbreaking tools developed by the lab is the Transportation Emission Measurement Tool (TEMT), designed to assess emissions across different modes of transportation. This data-driven tool enables companies to make informed decisions aimed at minimizing their carbon footprint. Complementing TEMT is the Carbon Accounting Tool, which offers a comprehensive assessment of Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, catering specifically to the Indian market.

Over the past year, the lab has made significant strides, benefiting over 100 organizations with its tools and disseminating knowledge through case studies, research articles, white papers, and thought leadership pieces. Uday Prakash, Vice President of Operations and Finance at Herbalife India, emphasized the partnership’s pivotal role in driving positive change, stating, “Our collaboration with IIMB underscores Herbalife India’s unwavering commitment to sustainability.”

Dr. Aditya Gupta, COO of TCI-IIMB Supply Chain Sustainability Lab, expressed pride in the lab’s contributions to sustainable supply chain education and innovation. He emphasized the partnership’s potential to accelerate India’s journey towards achieving net-zero emissions.

Through insightful research, industry collaboration, and practical tools, the collaboration between Herbalife India and IIM Bangalore has emerged as a beacon of sustainability in the supply chain domain. By bridging the gap between theory and practice and fostering collaborations with industry leaders, the initiative is paving the way for a greener, more sustainable future.
